Steven Phelps is Acting Vice President of Pricing and Costing for the US Postal Service. He assumed the role in March 2019, and has worked for USPS for 34 years.
Duties and Responsibilities
As VP of Pricing and Costing, Phelps reports to Joseph Corbett, USPS’ current Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. Phelps works to help USPS operate more efficiently, generate more revenue, and succeed in areas with complex regulations. His main duties involve overseeing programs to help strengthen the mailing and shipping experience for USPS’ commercial customers, as well as tailoring USPS’ services for individual markets. In addition, he also oversees postal regulatory reporting. This “regulatory reporting” includes delivering information such as postal programs and services to multiple stakeholders.
Steven Phelps’ Background
Phelps began his postal career as a letter carrier in Hyattsville, Maryland. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as pricing manager. His other previous assignments have included regulatory reporting and cost analysis manager, as well as other positions in finance, marketing and operations.
