UPS announced this week that it will begin offering Saturday residential delivery in Canada for the service UPS Standard, which features ground delivery to customers in most Canadian cities. Shippers should note that the new weekend delivery expansion for this specific international shipping service only applies to shipments originating within Canada as well as the United States.
Saturday Residential Delivery for UPS Standard Has Previously Not Been Available in Canada
According to UPS, the company is now “the first integrated carrier to offer Saturday residential delivery in Canada as a general service offering for all customers.”
In a press release announcing the service launch, UPS said the following:
“UPS is the first global small package carrier in Canada to provide committed Saturday ground residential delivery of shipments from the U.S. and within Canada at no additional cost. Starting in the GTA, customers who normally receive their residential deliveries on Monday will now receive them on Saturday. The service is scheduled to be available in Montreal, Laval, Calgary, and Greater Vancouver by March. Once fully implemented, the majority of Canadian addresses in metropolitan cities will be eligible to have packages delivered on Saturday.”
Where Does UPS Standard Offer Weekend Residential Delivery Service?
Per the UPS press release, weekend delivery service for UPS Standard is currently available in the Greater Toronto Area. By March 2024, it will be available in Montreal, Laval, Calgary, and Greater Vancouver. UPS stated that once it implements the service expansion, most Canadian residential addresses in metropolitan areas will be eligible for Saturday delivery. It is unclear whether the carrier plans to expand this service to other Canadian cities as well as other destinations outside of what UPS deems to be “metropolitan” areas.
