Appointed in August 2020, Dane Coleman is the Vice President of Regional Processing Operations for the Eastern Area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coleman reports directly to Kristin Seaver, the Chief Retail and Delivery Officer and Executive Vice President for the Postal Service. As part of his role, Coleman oversees all daily operations for the Eastern Area. Such operations include mail processing and distribution throughout six districts: Chesapeake, Coastal Southeast, Lakeshores, Mid-Atlantic, New England and New York Metro. The Eastern Area is one of the most densely populated USPS regions, encompassing roughly 642,000 square miles. Massachusetts, New York, Delaware, and Connecticut are a few of the 22 states that make up the area.

Dane Coleman’s Background

Coleman began his career with USPS in 1986 as a distribution clerk in Easton, Maryland. Prior to assuming his current position, he served in the following roles:

  • Operations Support manager for the Northeast Area
  • District manager for Baltimore, Maryland
  • Operations Integration and Support manager at USPS Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Colman has also served in several executive positions throughout the years, including acting plant manager for the Philadelphia Network Distribution Center, and acting Chief of Staff for Chief Operating Officer David Williams. Most recently, he served as the acting Vice President for the Northeast Area. There, he managed more than 30 plants, 4,000 delivery and retail units, and oversaw roughly 90,000 employees.
